The EA has extended Regulatory Position Statement 314, which allows metal shredder residues to be sent to non-hazardous landfill, for a further 12 months. The RPS covers more than 750,000 tonnes of material per year from end-of-life vehicles, electrical equipment and mixed-metal scrap.
Plastic Energy and TotalEnergies have started production at their joint advanced plastics recycling plant at Grandpuits near Paris. The TEPEAR facility has an annual capacity of 15,000 tonnes and uses Plastic Energy's patented technology to convert hard-to-recycle plastics into circular feedstock.
WRAP has confirmed that Recycle Week 2026 will run from 14 to 20 September. The announcement, made on Global Recycling Day, comes ahead of Simpler Recycling reforms in England from 31 March, which will standardise household collections across local authorities for the first time.
The Environment Agency has made a second arrest in connection with an illegal waste site in south Liverpool. A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of operating the site, with an HGV and excavator seized. The first arrest was made on 2 February when a different man was detained at the site.
