(L-R): Grundon Technical Manager Chris Edwards with Arundelle’s David Green at Grundon’s Ewelme Hazardous Waste Transfer Station
Grundon Waste Management Limited (Grundon) has acquired Arundelle Industrial Services Limited (Arundelle) for ‘an undisclosed amount’.
The move, which takes effect from 1 May, will see Grundon expand its range of services to include those in Arundelle’s remit, such as: confined spaces cleaning; decontamination; site decommissioning; pollution control; scheduled inspection and maintenance; and a ‘hazpack/hazmat spill response’.
Arundelle’s Managing Director, David Green, will join Grundon as Industrial Services Manager, with the remaining five Arundelle employees also moving from their current base in Wallingford, Oxfordshire, to Grundon’s nearby offices in Ewelme.
‘Acquisition offers significant potential to grow the industrial cleaning business’
Speaking of the acquisition, Clayton Sullivan-Webb, Managing Director of Grundon, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Arundelle into the Grundon family. This acquisition is the culmination of a long-standing relationship between our two companies and I believe it is the beginning of an exciting new growth period for our business.
“The expertise and strength of Arundelle’s specialist teams will enable us to widen our offering across the industrial cleaning arena and pursue new opportunities in key sectors, such as hospitals, universities, laboratories and factories.”
Green added: “We have been a long-time admirer of the Grundon operation and have regularly worked alongside their teams on a variety of decontamination and cleaning projects.
“Joining the Grundon group enables us to take advantage of its extensive capabilities and impressive reputation within the industry. This move will ensure our existing customers receive an even better service and level of support and we look forward to forging new relationships as we move forward together under the Grundon name.”

How will the government and DMOs address the challenges of including glass in DRS while ensuring a level playing field across the UK?
There's no easy solution to include glass in the DRS while maintaining a level playing field. Potential approaches include a phased introduction of glass, potentially with higher deposits to reflect its logistical challenges. The government and DMOs could incentivise innovation in glass packaging design and subsidise dedicated return points for glass-handling. Exemptions for smaller businesses unable to handle glass might also be necessary. Any successful solution will likely blend several approaches. It must address the differing priorities of devolved administrations, balance environmental benefits with logistical and cost implications, and be supported by robust consumer education campaigns emphasizing the importance of glass recycling.
