Ecomondo, the global circular economy exhibition will take place live in Rimini, Italy between 8-11 November.

Ecomondo couldn’t be more different this year, with the past two years being dictated by COVID-19. Now, pre-registration and exhibitor numbers are at their highest level for years, with the halls packed with exhibitors, and companies on a waiting list to get in.
Of course, the political and social landscape for the circular economy has never been more compelling with the transition to be more resource-efficient and wean the world off carbon fuel to enable us to achieve our zero-carbon target by 2050.
Delegates come from governments, utilities, the waste management sector, commercial and industrial businesses, municipalities, associations, planners, and policymakers.
The Ecomondo organisers are planning a UK delegation and will support delegates with funded travel and accommodation.
Key sectors are waste and resources, water, bioenergies, land remediation, renewables, and energy efficiency, with a particular focus on food waste and plastics.
Anyone interested in joining the funded delegation should contact the organisers at tonylambert@alseabusinessmedia.co.uk or call the UK office on 020 3865 7229.

How will the government and DMOs address the challenges of including glass in DRS while ensuring a level playing field across the UK?
There's no easy solution to include glass in the DRS while maintaining a level playing field. Potential approaches include a phased introduction of glass, potentially with higher deposits to reflect its logistical challenges. The government and DMOs could incentivise innovation in glass packaging design and subsidise dedicated return points for glass-handling. Exemptions for smaller businesses unable to handle glass might also be necessary. Any successful solution will likely blend several approaches. It must address the differing priorities of devolved administrations, balance environmental benefits with logistical and cost implications, and be supported by robust consumer education campaigns emphasizing the importance of glass recycling.
